Size explorer
Compare sizes in proportion.
Slide length and ring gauge. The cigar is drawn in proportion, so a 60 ring gordo looks as fat next to a lancero as it does in your hand. It is not actual size, since screens differ.
Straight answers to the usual questions
Short versions here. Each tool page carries the long one, with the math and the sources.
What does ring gauge mean?
Ring gauge is a cigar's diameter in 64ths of an inch. A 64 ring is one inch across, so a 50 ring is 50/64 of an inch, about 19.8 mm. Convert a ring gauge.
What humidity should a humidor be?
Most humidor guidance aims for 65 to 72% relative humidity with the room near 70°F. Lower in that range burns a little easier; higher keeps cigars softer. Size your humidity packs.
How long does a cigar take to smoke?
Length and ring gauge decide most of it. At a relaxed pace our estimator puts a 5 x 50 robusto near 50 minutes and a 7 x 48 Churchill past an hour. Estimate yours.

SmokingHow to light a cigarToast the foot, then draw. Why a torch scorches and a cedar spill does not.
StorageHow to season a humidorBring raw cedar up to humidity slowly, so it stops stealing moisture from your cigars.
